हम बात कर रहे हैं बातल के चंद्रा ढाबा के मालिक और स्पिति जाने वाले यायावरों के चहेते – चाचा बोध दोरजी और उनकी धर्मपत्नी चंद्रा की। हम 4 लोगों ने मिल के खूब अंडे और परांठे पेले थे। मतलब समझो कि कुछ 2 घंटे से हम खा ही रहे थे। हाँ, पर साथ-साथ चाचा – चाची से बातचीत भी चल रही थी.

दुनिया की सबसे अद्भुत जगहों में अगर हिमालय को सबसे पहले नंबर पर रखा जाए तो इसमें कोई हैरानी की बात नहीं होनी चाहिए। इससे ज़्यादा विशाल, विचित्र और महिमा-मई जगह शायद ही आपको दुनिया में कहीं मिलेगी। पर हिमालय सिर्फ़ अपने आकार की वजह से हिमालय नहीं कहलाता और ना ही तो इसके आयाम सिर्फ़ दिखावे तक सीमित हैं। हिमालय तो सदियों से यहाँ रह रहे लाखों-करोड़ों लोगों का वो विश्वास है जो यहाँ की कहानियों में बसता है, दिखता है।
सन 1965 और 71 के भारत-पाक युद्ध के दौरान मंदिर के आस पास पाकिस्तानी फ़ौज द्वारा गिराए गए बम नहीं फटे थे. ये बम आज भी मंदिर के साथ बने संग्रहालय में रखे है. बमों के ना फटने का कारण देवी का चमत्कार बताया जाता है. यह हो भी सकता है. पर हम तो कहेंगे की बम पाकिस्तानी थे — फ़ुस्स ही होंगे न.
